My name is Jackie Hurst, I am the Founder of CV Writers. I have been a recruiter for 15 years and have successfully set up and run my own recruitment consultancy for 10 years.  Helping others enhance their careers – and their lives – is my passion.

Our team has a wealth of recruitment, HR and copywriting experience, and range from successful recruiters (members of REC) to HR Directors (CIPD qualified), professional CV copywriters, and Executive Directors.

I decided to set up The CV Writers because over the years I discovered that there is an overwhelming necessity for people to have a professional CV.  I can’t tell you the amount of times as a recruiter that I have had to re-write CVs in order to present my candidates to clients. The CV will make or break you.

How we do it

1. We take your existing CV (if you have one) and basically go through it with a fine-toothed comb. We dissect every aspect of your professional career and find out what makes you tick as a person.

2. We send you a tailor-made questionnaire which will home in on your skills, abilities and career aspirations. The CV questionnaire procedure is preferable to a two-hour telephone conversation, as experience has shown that it is difficult for you to tell us everything about yourself and your career on the spot. We have found that the best way of getting information is for you to be able to sit and think about it when you have a quiet moment – that way, you are unlikely to miss out important information.

3. Once we have this, we will call you with any further questions.

4. We will send you your new professional CV in the agreed timescale, at which point you can proof it and request any (if necessary) changes.

Interview preparations

As a recruiter I have an exact formula when it comes to preparing a candidate for interview.  I have been using it for 15 years and my interview-to-placement ratio is 95% - meaning that 95% of people I send for interview get the job. This very system is what we use here at The CV Writers.

Preparing a candidate for interview is one of the most important and rewarding aspects of helping someone.

1. If you have a specific job in mind, we will scan over the job specification and deliver an exact interview preparation for that job.

2. You will also get a document with clear, concise bullet points of the interview preparation, so that you can look back over it as many times as you need.
